Britney Spears is worrying fans with a new photo on Instagram as she updates her feed following her DUI arrest earlier this year. The 44-year-old singer, who wound up behind bars in March after “driving erratically” in Ventura County, CA, updated her account on June 17. Sharing a close-up selfie of herself in her car, Britney kept stylish in a printed sundress, but fan talk wasn’t about her style. The Grammy winner is also relatively fresh from pleading guilty to reckless driving, alongside undergoing a voluntary stint in rehab.
Britney Spears Sparks Concern With California Selfie On Instagram
Posing open-mouthed while looking right at the camera, Britney showed off a red-and-white dress covered in light prints. The “Toxic” singer, who opted out of sharing her location, wore her hair styled into layers, adding a cute face of makeup complete with her signature dark eyeliner finish.
In a caption, the songstress wrote: “Pour it out… pour it in… let the fragile sins begin!!!” Britney has intentionally disabled comments on her Instagram, however she did earn over 100,000 likes. She also snagged a like from fellow music star Jennifer Lopez.
Britney’s post quickly made its way onto social networking platform Reddit, where fans broke down pretty much everything. While one user claimed to know the exact dress she was wearing, stating that it was “sold online five years ago,” another wondered if some AI was at play on account of Britney’s impeccable cosmetics. Others turned their attention toward the blonde’s behavior.
She’s Giving ‘Crazy Talk?’
California-based Britney Spears was almost subject to somewhat of a shaming psych evaluation by one fan, who wrote: “Pssssss…… it’s crazy talk, y’all.” Responding to this, another said that Britney “probably doesn’t know what it means, lol.” Britney has often seen her mental health make headlines. The mom of two has a Bipolar disorder diagnosis and was, from as early as 2020, worrying fans with her erratic or strange social media posts. Prior concerns also made the news in 2007 and 2008 as she suffered a mental breakdown. Britney has documented what she went through during these years in her The Woman in Me memoir, published in October 2023.
Britney was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol on March 4 and charged with allegedly driving under the influence. She was released early in the morning on March 5 before getting a court date for May. Since her charge was a misdemeanor, she didn’t personally appear in court.
Britney’s Rep Speaks Out After DUI Arrest
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” Britney’s rep stated shortly after her arrest. They added:
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life,” continued the rep. “Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
Meanwhile, further concerns on the Reddit thread manifested as a fan asking if “anyone is there to help her,” with another user writing: “Yikes.”
