Taylor Swift’s Reported Wedding Venue ‘Not Weird’ As New York Anticipates Street Closures

Taylor Swift’s fans seem to be on the fence about whether or not her reported decision to get married at New York City’s Madison Square Garden is strange. The singer, who got engaged to her NFL player beau Travis Scott last year, is ramping up prep for her nuptials next month, and fan talk is of nothing else. When news that Tay-Tay plans to tie the knot at Madison Square Garden broke recently, fans appeared both shocked and totally unfazed.

Swift, 36, announced her engagement in August 2026, posting an Instagram announcement that now sits at over 36 million likes.

Taylor Swift’s Potential New York Wedding Plans Revealed

Just two days ago, New York residents got busy discussing the possibility of a Swift/Kelce wedding as a permit was filed to shut down streets in the vicinity of NYC’s famous Madison Square Garden. The identity of the person or persons filing for the permit has not been revealed.

However, with the filing requesting closures from July 2-4 and Taylor Swift’s wedding date reportedly set for July 3, fans seem convinced something’s up. It’s worth noting that a significant number of fans have also pointed out that it’ll be the Fourth of July, a holiday known for its large-scale events.

Madison Square Garden Wouldn’t Be That ‘Weird’ After All

Social networking platform Reddit definitely had thoughts this week as the rumors broke. Noting that many high-profile celebrities (including singer Dua Lipa and reality star Kourtney Kardashian) have gotten married in Italy, one user wrote: “Well, at least they’re not doing this in Italy.”

Over 500 fans agreed when another said: “I think the rumor mill is saying there might be a private ceremony, but the reception is going be at MSG with 1,200 people (no plus ones).” Taylor is reported to have initially considered tying the knot in Rhode Island, where she owns a sprawling property, but is said to have switched to favoring New York City to allow more guests to attend. The Grammy winner has also stayed tight-lipped about her actual plans for her big day.

While one fan said: “It’s very funny to hear non-New Yorkers getting seemingly more annoyed at this than actual residents lol,” another went with their hot take that just maybe, Madison Square Garden isn’t all that “weird” a venue.

‘Something Is Happening’ In New York

Meanwhile, an exec at TMZ seems to have a clear idea that the buzz around Madison Square Garden is linked to Taylor marrying Travis.

“Something is happening July 3 at Madison Square Garden. Taylor Swift will be there, Travis Kelce will be there,” executive producer Michael Babcock stated. Swift, who often posts social media moments with her athlete beau, has also divulged nothing about her dress choice or how her wedding will look. Five days ago, news broke that she had opted to personally call her celebrity guests to invite them, with Page Six offering a list of who’s made the cut.

Singer Ed Sheeran, actress Blake Lively, pop star Selena Gomez, and supermodel Gigi Hadid are all said to have gotten an invite.
